Muse is a multi-purpose venue combining an upmarket cafe, and a bookshop with an active literary event calendar.
Located on the ground floor of Canberra's multi-award-winning EAST Hotel, Muse is an independent business serving breakfast seven days, and lunch Wednesday - Saturday.
About the role
We are currently offering between 20 - 25 hours for casual staff, but contracted part-time hours are available for the right candidate(s). Multiple positions are available for an immediate start. Those with flexible availability that includes weekday and weekend work, will be given higher consideration.
We are looking for staff who are punctual, reliable and fast on their feet, and comfortable engaging with customers from a variety of backgrounds. Early morning starts will be required so own transport is crucial.
Responsibilities for all floor staff include:
- Friendly and efficient customer service;
- Suitable cooperation and communication between other employees at all times to deliver timely, quality service to customers;
- Ability to identify any problems and resolve them quickly and efficiently;
- Maintain a level head.
We offer full industry award pay including all appropriate weekend and public holiday penalty loading rates.

Basic starting position indicative salary range: Level 3 Food and beverage attendant (Restaurant Industry Award MA000119) plus superannuation and benefits. Full award pay including weekend and public holiday penalty loading rates.
Skills and experience
Successful applicants must have a minimum of one year café experience, possess a sound understanding of personal hygiene and appearance, and be able to demonstrate a high level of customer service and initiative. The ability to carry three plates and tray work is expected.
Coffee making skills would be an advantage.
