Full Time Aged Care Pharmacist

Amcal Bayswater Drive-In Pharmacy is seeking an enthusiastic and self -motivated pharmacist to join our friendly team. We have a Full time aged Care Pharmacist position available. We are a Perth based pharmacy servicing a large volume of residential aged Care facilities.

This is a great opportunity to expand your skillset! The role is completely different to your traditional pharmacy technician and introduces you to the world of pharmacy aged Care. In an ageing population demand for care in the aged sector will only continue to grow.

Previous experience is preferred but not essential! Training will be provided. We just need you to be willing to learn! 

The Full time aged Care Pharmacist role involves working closely with a team of technicians and pharmacists. Excellent attention to detail and communication, skills are required. This is a challenging and high paced role! 

Your duties include (but are not limited to):

• Charting and processing medication orders
• Liasing with doctors, nurses and other allied health professionals
• Check packaged medication 
• Co-ordinate and oversee day to day work flow 
• Managing and maintaining the dispensing database
• Dispensing medication to nursing home facilities accurately
• Ordering and receipting of stock, including daily nursing home orders, monthly bulk and direct supplier turnovers
• Checking and keeping NHS prescriptions up to date and ready for claim processing
• Work as part of an aged Care team
• Prepare and amend dosage administration aids
• Handle account querie

Applicants must also participate in an on call pharmacist service on a rotational basis with a pool of other pharmacists. This involves attending to after hours phone calls for urgent orders and queries from aged Care facilities. This service operates outside of normal business hours (i.e. is a 24/7 service). This is a compulsory aspect of the role. 

In addition the succesful applicant must be available to work regular Saturday shifts (8am to 6pm). 

Requirements

• Registered in Australia with AHPRA to work as a pharmacist 
• Possess a current police check 
• Experience with FRED dispense, FRED office, Healthstream and Quantum is highly regarded but not essential (training will be provided if necessary)
• A strong work ethic and excellent customer service skills
• Strong communication skills and computer literacy skills.
• Be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment 
• Be flexible to assist in any area of the pharmacy
• Superior attention to detail and accuracy
• Medication packing knowledge will be an advantage but not essential
