Position summary:

Anodyne is a growing team of medical, nursing and allied health specialists focused on innovative and progressive health care. The Anodyne Nurse is one who is professional, motivated, organised, and friendly. The Nurse can multitask, prioritise their workload, work under pressure and be able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously. The  Nurse regularly participates in professional development, demonstrates ethical and professional practice, and works within the governing Anodyne policies and procedures and Australian legislation system. The  Nurse maintains the privacy and confidentiality of patients, stakeholders and the practice and policy of Anodyne. 

Position reports:

The Registered Nurse reports to:

  • Clinical Nurse Consultant
  • Practice Manager 

The Enrolled Nurse reports to:

  • Clinical Nurse Consultant
  • Practice Manager 
  • Registered Nurse

Key responsibilities:

An employee at this level is required to perform general nursing duties AND is appointed as such by a selection process or by reclassification from a lower level when that employee is required to perform the following duties on a continuing basis, but are not confined to:

  • Works within a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality evidence-based nursing care to patients under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Nurse Consultant;
  • Delivering direct and comprehensive nursing and individual case management to a specific group of patients or clients in a particular area of nursing practice within the practice setting;
  • Coordinating services, including those of other disciplines or agencies, to individual patients or clients within the practice setting;
  • Providing education, counselling and group work services orientated towards the promotion of health status improvement of patients and clients within the practice setting;
  • Providing support, direction, orientation and education to RN’s (level 1), EN’s, student nurses and student EN’s;
  • Being responsible for planning and coordinating services relating to a particular group of clients or patients in the practice setting, as delegated by the Clinical Nurse Consultant;
  • Acting as a role model in the provision of holistic care to patients or clients in the practice setting;
  • Accepting accountability for the employee’s own standards of nursing care and service delivery;
  • Assisting in the management of action research projects, AND Participating in quality assurance programs and policy development within the practice setting;
  • Maintains safe nursing practice and working environment;
  • Participates in the performance development of self;
  • Demonstrates sound ethics and is accountable for own practice;
  • Works within governing legislation, policies and procedures;
  • Available to work across multiple sites
  • Other duties as requested.

Essential skills:

  • Demonstrates quality and risk management principles within practice
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and monitor workflow.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
  • Effective interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work under a pressured environment.
  • Accredited Advanced Life Support certification.

Desirable skills:

  • Medication endorsement with S8 and IV medication competency.
  • IV cannulation competency
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to nursing practice and Equal Opportunity.
  • Experience working in mental health
  • Experience working in an outpatient Specialist Medical practice setting.
  • Experience working as a Nurse in pain management, medical, and surgical specialties.
  • Experience as a scrub nurse and/or working in theatre environment
  • Experience with Gentu medical practice software and Microsoft 365 Applications.

Appointment pre-requisites:

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse/Enrolled Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Provision of the minimum identity proofing requirements.
  • Successful National Police Clearance / Criminal Record Screening Clearance.
  • Successful Working with Children Check
  • Covid-19 vaccination Certificate
  • Undertake a pre-employment interview
  • Provide appropriate references for contact as requested by the practice
  • Participate in an orientation or induction program
  • Participate in a performance review process
