Shandiz Restaurant (Motevalli PTY LTD) in Salisbury SA is seeking a Full Time Cook with the right attitude and passion for working with food with at least 6 years of relevant kitchen experience and a minimum of a Cert IV qualification or equivalent in substantial experience. Must have experience with Persian cuisine. Salary of $70,000 + super for this full-time position.
BenefitsTask & ResponsibilitiesAs the Cook, you will undergo the following responsibilities and tasks:Responsibilities:
- Utilise advanced knife handling and chopping skills to prepare ingredients for Persian dishes such as Barg, Koobideh, and Shishlik.
- Demonstrate expertise in meat boning, trimming, and thorough cleaning to ensure high-quality meat preparation.
- Skewer meats, particularly ground meat, with flavorful seasoning to create delicious kebabs such as Barg, Koobideh, and Shishlik.
- Showcase mastery in the preparation of traditional Persian stews and aromatic curries such as Ghormeh Sabzi and Gheimeh, ensuring authentic flavours and textures.
- Execute the intricate process of steaming authentic Persian rice to perfection, paying close attention to detail to achieve the desired consistency and flavour.
- Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Check the quality of ingredients
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortage
- Prepare Menu and cost management
- Manage portion control
- Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Participate in the planning and creation of restaurant menu
- Prepare meals and dining experience for catered special events
- Aid in the supervision and performance of kitchen staff
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Cert IV qualification or equivalent in substantial experience.
Experience Requirement:
- At least 6 years of kitchen experience in highly relevant role required.
- Experience in Persian cuisines
Essential Skills:
- Iranian Persian languages (Persian, Western Persian, or Farsi) preferred (not essential, but beneficial for communicating with customers and kitchen staff on dietary requirements when called upon)
- Good cooking and presentation skills
- Excellent knowledge of all kitchen procedures and assist with all facets of kitchen operation
- Able to work in a team
- Good communication skills
- Maintain good health and hygiene
- Great time management and organisation skills
