Your Role
By joining the Air Force as Mission Aircrew, you’ll enter one of three Officer Aviation roles, including Air Mobility Officer, Weapon Systems Officer, or Maritime Patrol and Response Officer. In these roles, you’ll work on board a range of advanced military aircraft and operate some of the world's most sophisticated airborne electronic systems. Whether you’re in the backseat of a fast jet, or refuelling an aircraft mid-air, you’ll be responsible for the efficient completion of a mission.
Your duties may include:
- Performing surveillance and control duties in both ground and air environments, using radar, communications, tactical data links and electronic support.
- Flying in an F/A-18F Super Hornet Pilot and EA-18G Growler operating state of the art mission and weapon systems.
- Commanding missions on the P-8A Poseidon aircraft, for a variety of maritime patrol and response purposes.
As an Air Force Officer, you’ll also be trained to become an inspirational leader and mentor, equipped with highly sought-after management skills.

Salary
Upon completion of initial military and employment training, you will enjoy a salary package starting from $80,857.
Location
Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.

For this role, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed Year 12 with passes in English and three other academic subjects.
