FULL TIME NURSERY PERSON SUPERVISOR

Duties and Responsibilities

• supervise small team and prepare work schedules
• preparing potting media and containers before planting
• selecting seeds, bulbs and cuttings, and planting them in beds, lawn areas and tubs
• budding and grafting vegetative material onto root stock
• harvest and packs the crops ready for customer's orders
• prepares list of produce ready for selling
• watering plants manually and controlling automatic watering operations
• applying pesticides to control pests, diseases, weeds and nutritional and environmental plant disorders using Spray Wand
• keeping records of soil mixtures, plantings, treatments, losses and yields
• selecting plants and packaging them for presentation and delivery
• advising customers on plant care and appropriate plants for local conditions
• may plan sales area layouts and visual merchandise presentation
• all-round maintenance around the farm
• responsible in farm setting up and functioning

Required Skills
Diploma of Horticulture preferably with two years experiences in the field
With detailed knowledge on Protected Cropping Australia (PCA)
Current ChemCERT Card as part of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2011
English, speaker of other language is beneficial.
Other Considerations:

• Ability to communicate effectively to customers.
• Physically fit to be able to handle external duties that may involve lifting bags of soil.
• Ability to collaborate effectively fostering team work to get things done within timeframe.
• Organizational skills and time management to prioritize workload.
• Ability to manage small team and to build solid relationships within teammates.
• Understand the basic concept of operating computers and devices needed for the inventory and plant identification systems and ordering procedure.
