Two opportunities exists to join our small collaborative team in Mudgee, NSW as a Funeral Director / Team Leader or a Funeral Director's Assistant.
Eastaugh and Carroll is a long established funeral business, based in Mudgee since 1895, independently owned with the current owners since 1999. We are highly respected in the local and central west area and have a very low staff turnover. Could be perfect for a couple with casual work opportunities for the partner if suited. Mudgee has won top tourist town in Australia for 2021 & 2022. It is a great place for a tree change being only 3 hours form Sydney.
We are looking for:
Someone to arrange and conduct funeral services and lead our small team when required. They must possess a caring and understanding nature together with well-developed interpersonal skills and sensitivity to circumstances involving grieving families. Whilst previous experience in the funeral industry is advantageous, transferable skills and the right work ethic is key.
We are also looking for a Funeral Director's assistant to work with the Team Leader and Management.
The duties will include but are not limited to:
- Funeral arranging with client families
- General office administration for funerals
- Transfers of deceased persons – incl after hours standby roster
- Basic Mortuary practices
- Conducting and overseeing funeral ceremonies
- Grave site preparation/setup
- Maintenance/Cleaning of vehicles and grounds as required
- Stock management
The successful applicants must:
- Be at ease working within the funeral environment.
- Have sensitivity in circumstances involving grieving people, their values and beliefs
- Demonstrate very good customer service, organisational and problem solving skills.
- Be able to meet deadlines while managing conflicting deadlines
- Be customer focused, professional and reliable
- Excellent communication skills and respond effectively to all levels of the public
- Have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow direction when necessary.
- Possess good leadership skills and be able to direct fellow staff members.
- Be able to work as part of a team and independently, carrying out duties in a safe manner and in accordance with Manual Handling, WHS/OHS guidelines
- Have excellent personal presentation and pride in themselves and in our company
- Be polite, respectful, show empathy and resilience in performing the role.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders
- Meet the physical and psychological requirements of the role. A reasonable level of fitness is required.
- Be able to participate in after-hours and weekend on call roster
- Have an unrestricted driver's license with a good driving record.
- Good computer and technology skills including audio/visual
- These are full time roles
