DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
AFLNT in conjunction with AFL SportsReady currently have an exciting opportunity available for someone wanting to pursue a career in the Sport and Recreation field.

• Work with AFLNT and the Game Development team
• Completion of Certificate III in Sport & Recreation
12-month, Full-time employment role based in Darwin at the AFLNT Head Office and report to the Participation, Schools & Diversity Manager NT.
The Trainee will work in the Game Development team and focus on participation and programs, talent pathways and community engagement through the delivery of School Auskick, Superkick and Nines programs.
It is AFL Northern Territory’s vision that participation growth continues to build, assisted by a strong club network with an enhanced focus on engaging female, multicultural and indigenous communities.
The SportsReady traineeship includes Full-Time work for up to 1 year (38 hours per week) – Certificate III or Certificate IV level.
Tasks involved
Day in the life – what you will be responsible for
Working closely with members of AFLNT’s Game Development team, you will be responsible for delivering AFL programs in a professional and enthusiastic manner and considered manner.
• Assist to create a strategic overview and action plan for Game Development NT deliverables including programs, events, and community engagement.
• Develop opportunities to expand AFL into new communities through ‘come and try’ events for multicultural students and adults.
• Build new relationships with key stakeholders to expand the presence of the AFL Northern Territory
brand within the broader community
• Liaise with key school contacts to identify opportunities for engagement and to develop culturally appropriate school programs in areas.
• Provide clear development, high-performance and talent pathway opportunities for footballers.
• Assist in developing Diversity and Inclusion plans across community engagement, participation, and talent programs.
• Designing targeted community AFL Game Development programs for the Northern Territory including Auskick, Juniors, Kinderkick, Superkick, Nine and community football matches
• General administration includes participation reporting, redeeming sports vouchers, and tracking participation growth.
• Support the Game Development Team with other program and competition delivery.
• Support the broader AFLNT team in hosting events, AFL games and general business.
Personal requirements
Key Competencies (skills & Knowledge)
• Attainment of Level 1 (AFL) coaching accreditation
• Strong communication skills and interest in working with children in Primary and Secondary school.
• Capacity to develop skills to lead and coordinate a variety of AFL Programs.
• Knowledge of and ability to teach AFL skills and its rules.
• Well organized and able to receive feedback.
• Able to work as part of a team and with a diverse community.
• Good oral and written communication skills to a wide demographic of people
• Demonstrated personal initiative and ability to work effectively unsupervised.
Other Core Competencies:
• Passionate about Australian Rule Football and growing the game throughout the NT.
• Be willing to work outside normal business hours such as evenings and weekends.

SALARY
As the successful candidate, you will receive:
$21,500 – $30,000 plus 11% Superannuation
- National Training Wage Award

- People with tertiary qualifications need not apply. Current university applicants may have to defer their studies to be eligible for this traineeship.
- This position is best suited to a recent secondary school leaver.
