The Team
The position of Game Officer forms a part of the Compliance and Intelligence Division within the Game Management Authority.
The Game Management Authority (GMA) delivers programs to improve and promote sustainable and responsible game hunting in Victoria. The GMA is responsible for:
- issuing Game Licence's and related testing;
- managing open and closed seasons for game species;
- enforcing game hunting laws and acting against those who do not hunt legally; and
- educating and informing game hunters on how to hunt legally and responsibly in Victoria.
Game Officers (GOs) are appointed as Authorised Officers under the Game Management Act 2014 and exercise law enforcement powers relating to the compliance of game hunting activities. GOs engage with a variety of stakeholders, including government and community groups under direction from Team Leaders and Senior Game Officers (SGOs) to deliver high quality community-focussed, state wide compliance services within Victoria (East Vic or West ).

- Ability to establish, and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and groups.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and sound judgement.
- Ability to prioritise tasks with defined objectives.
- Strong team work is crucial in this role
GOs work to rosters, which may include working on weekends and public holidays and shifts outside of normal working hours, and from time to time may be required to work from alternative or remote work locations.
