About the Role
As a Gardener / Maintenance Officer at one of our care homes, you will be responsible for maintaining the grounds and providing quality and timely maintenance service across the Care Home, including repairs and maintenance, to ensure to provide a comfortable and safe environment for our residents.
This is a Permanent Part Time role 3 days/week
Duties
- Mowing of lawns, maintenance of garden beds, trimming of hedges and foliage
- Planting out and replacing as needed
- Weeding, mulching and pruning
- Fertilising, controlling pests and diseases
- Identify and carry out preventative maintenance, repair and improvement works to the building, grounds and equipment in-line with the Maintenance Schedules
- Assist in the development of repair and maintenance budget, monitor the actual utilisation of budget and escalates if there is any over expenditure.
- Compliance with all relevant WHS procedures
Skills and Experience
- Certificate II or III in Horticulture highly regarded but not essential
- At least 2 – 3 years previous experience
- Understanding of plants, pest management and chemical handling
- Previous experience gained in a similar role
- The ability to solve problems independently
- An understanding of Resident Rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards and Outcomes
