The opportunity:
The Primary Objective of the Garment Technician is to provide clear instructions on design and technical garment construction to Vendors to ensure high quality and well-constructed garments. Working alongside Design and Production teams to ensure that garments meet the quality and construction standards required by the business
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Creation and update of specifications for all stages of the sampling process
- Ensure detail in specification is accurate and complete (sketches, photos, style, fabric, trims)
- Ensure communication with Vendor is detailed and clear to ensure accurate sampling
- Specifications are produced in a timely manner through ensuring data integrity
- Conduct all fit meetings for category and decisions agreed to in consultation with Designer
- Ensure samples are received and dispatched according to timeline and agreed quality standards
- Ensure fit and quality meet retailer’s requirements across all product types
- Ensure all measurements, fits and grading is accurate
- Address quality issues and ensure action steps are implemented with the QA team (as required) to solve the issues
- Ensure accuracy of received samples (fit, trims, labels)
- Measure and fit samples ready for range release and bulk production
- Ensure all pertinent safety and legal regal requirements are executed within high risk product categories
- Ensure approvals, all technical information and specifications are completed accurately and in accordance with timeline expectations
- Work with adapted systems and processes to ensure visibility for all staff
- Problem resolution to improve process and quality of garments for customer satisfaction
- Ensure any product and quality issues with suppliers/retailers are resolved in a timely manner.
The skills and experience you offer us:
- Experienced GT with construction knowledge who has worked with Design teams
- Understanding of Apparel quality
- Pattern Making experience
- Grading Knowledge
- Fit Execution
- Clear Verbal and written communication
- Effective Time management with the ability to meet timelines
- Work with an environment with conflicting priorities and adapt working style to meet changing needsAbility to work in a team environment and manage internal and external relationships
