We’re talent searching for a superstar Garment Technician. Is it you?
We are looking for someone who has a tape measure attached their hip and is meticulously detail orientated. Working directly with our Head of Product & Design you will be supporting the team to manage and oversee all aspects of technical design to ensure the accuracy of product measurements and quality of construction and fit.
Based out of our Head Office in Port Melbourne, this role is a Part Time position with days and hours negotiable for the right candidate.

Back to the position, we’re after someone who can offer:
- Experience developing product protypes and samples in line with company quality, styling and fit requirements.
- Overseeing all aspects of technical design including the creation of Tech Packs for every style; develop a fit comment document for all garment components, including fit, construction, stitch, and trims; working closely with the Design & Production team to transition from initial concepts through to final sample
- Creation of garment spec sheets & application of grading rules
- Measuring garments accurately to identify any fit issues and execute fit comments efficiently to remain on schedule with production. Solving construction problems throughout the sample stage and liaising daily with suppliers, in regard to fits, finishes & grading
- Participating in fit sessions, provide recommendations to accurately and efficiently address all issues, and communicate comments and follow ups to off-shore factories.
- Working with the Design team to review and approve samples for production after a thorough evaluation of fit, measurement, pattern shaping, hanger appeal, and functionality
- Conducting QC of PP samples and Bulk TOP samples
- Overseeing all garment testing requirements (offshore and inhouse) to ensure product is compliant with AU standards and company quality standards
And, has the following:
- Experience in childrenswear – minimum 2 years experience in Product Development / Garment Technology
- Tertiary education in Design, Pattern making & Grading is essential
- Sound technical garment knowledge (e.g. skilled understanding of fabric qualities, pattern making, sizes and grading)
- In-depth knowledge and experience in fabric testing, textile properties and quality assurance
- Skilled in Adobe illustrator and Excel
- Ability to manage workflow and work collaboratively to meet expectations and product critical path deadlines.
- Is calm under pressure with the ability to stay focused to meet tight deadlines
- A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced, agile environment
- Attention to detail in both workmanship and overall quality of a garment
- Flexibility, adaptability, proactivity, and a can-do attitude is a MUST!
