GEDSI Officer - EOI
About the Project - Australia Assists is DFAT's flagship humanitarian technical assistance program. The managing contractor is responsible for deploying technical expertise to areas affected or prone to be affected by disasters, conflicts and humanitarian emergencies. The creation and maintenance of a humanitarian roster, alongside training and capacity strengthening of partner governments are key activities within the program.
About the Role - Reporting to the Strategic Partnerships and Communications Director, the Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion Officer will work on Australia Assists gender and social inclusion activities including program administration, knowledge brokering and integration of GEDSI into humanitarian deployment and training activities within the program.
Location - This role is based in Brisbane, Australia.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee the implementation of the Australia Assists GEDSI strategy.
· Provide thought leadership for Australia Assists GEDSI programming, including design and management of GEDSI deployment modalities with partners to fill knowledge gaps, develop tools and support initiatives to strengthen inclusive humanitarian assistance.
· Promote the use and improvement of knowledge management mechanisms to share information about GEDSI-informed deployments.
· Provide collaboration and support to Australia Assists partner programs to address GEDSI.
· Work with Australia Assists technical managers to develop regional Integration Plans to strengthen inclusive humanitarian deployments and undertake technical tasks in such as participation on program design, evaluation, review or planning teams to strengthen GESI.
· Provide advice, training and support to program staff, DFAT, and other partners to apply an intersectionality approach between GEDSI, humanitarian needs and Australia's strategic priorities.
· Work with DFAT to inform program GEDSI design taking into account DFAT's International Development Policy.
· Build and support a culture of learning and improvement within the Program in relation to GEDSI.
About You
· At least a bachelor's degree in international relations, gender relations or similar.
· 3-5 years providing advisory services, pertinent to GEDSI, to international development or humanitarian programs.
· Strong skills and experience with procurements
· High-level skills in planning, organisation, multi-tasking and time management
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
· Strong experience and skills with MS Office software
· Strong written and spoken English language skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives in the Pacific and global humanitarian contexts, and a professional commitment to promote a culture of gender equality and disability and social inclusion.
