General Assistant (Butchery) - Tasfresh Fresh & Specialty Foods

Tasfresh are looking for General Assistant to work primarily in our wholesale butchery but also in other areas of the business as required. 

We are looking for somebody who is hardworking and able to work in a fast paced environment whilst providing the high level of product quality and customer service we are recognised for.

We call it a wholesale butchery but in practice it is a production kitchen in which we produce a wide range of meat products. This includes producing lines such as mince, sausages, hamburgers and schnitzels along with portion controlling of sliced and diced meats including bone in and out. We process and sell a full range of lamb, beef, pork and poultry products for sale to our customers.

This role, based at our Prospect (Launceston) depot deals primarily (but not exclusively) with fresh meat and poultry. The position is full time and works a 40 hour week (on average) Monday to Friday. 

The successful applicant will be able to perform tasks quickly and to a high standard.

The main duties of the position include;

• The production of products to set specifications.
• Slicing, trimming and dicing product to required specifications. 
• Packing orders, including weighing and labeling of products. 
• Review production and recipe paperwork to determine quality and quantity of goods.
• Keeping all butchery utensils, equipment and the work area clean, tidy and well presented. 
• Receiving, offloading and organising stock items that are delivered. 
• Perform other duties (general warehouse tasks, deliveries to customers, administrative tasks, etc) as assigned.

To be the successful applicant you must:

• Be proactive and capable of using your initiative 
• Be reliable & trustworthy 
• Be numerate and able to speak & write clearly in English.

While not essential it would be a significant advantage if you also have;

• Previous experience working with or preparing food.
• Proven knife skills
• A sound knowledge of meat cuts.
