The Role
Our client is seeking to appoint a General Counsel. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping their legal strategy, supporting corporate governance, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all aspects of their operations.

Responsibilities
In order to be successful in the role, you will bring experience as a senior corporate commercial lawyer with a strong background in the manufacturing and/or distribution industry. You will ideally have an understanding of the corporate governance requirements of the Corporations Act and ASX Listing Rules. In addition, you will apply your depth and breadth of experience in a dynamic and growth-oriented business.
This is an outstanding opportunity to utilise your experience in an ASX Listed environment that is complex, dynamic and exciting. Additional responsibilities:
- Providing general legal advice to the business in respect of its operations across Australia
- Advising the business on a range of corporate and commercial matters
- Review and negotiate commercial property leases
- Provide support on strategic M&A initiatives
- Overseeing the group's regulatory obligations
- Manage commercial disputes and litigation
- Liaising with senior internal stakeholders and playing a crucial role in impacting the strategic direction of the business
- Managing external law firm relationships
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will be circa 10 PQE Australian lawyer ideally with exposure to the manufacturing and distribution market. A few additional qualities the client is looking for:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and ability to interact and build effective relationships with internal and external partners
- High level of personal and professional integrity
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines while paying attention to details, ensuring a high standard of work
- Ability to anticipate, improvise, and adapt for optimal resolutions
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively and use independent and professional judgment with minimal supervision
