JLegal is partnering with a Leading Global Software company, headquartered in San Francisco, and listed on the NASDAQ:100. Due to continued growth in the region the APAC team is seeking a talented Legal Counsel to join the organisation, either in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth and become an integral part of the legal team.

The Role
As Legal Counsel you will report to the Associate General Counsel, APAC and support the team across, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Collaboration will be a key attribute of the role as you will work very closely with other members of the team both in the region and globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior lawyers across the region and work with the business to provide prompt, practical and commercial legal advice to support growth of the business (including strategic projects across the Asia Pacific region)
- Support the legal team with a variety of matters including public policy, marketing and communications
- Advise on the local and regional legal landscapes, including consumer protection, competition, marketing, discrimination, digital platforms/e-commerce, employment, privacy, dispute resolution
- Assist with regulatory compliance and draft and negotiate commercial contracts and documents
- Mitigate legal risk while keeping business priorities at the forefront
- Work with the litigation team with respect to resolving pre-litigation matters
The Successful Candidate
- Law degree from an accredited law school and hold a current Australian practicing certificate
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience
- Relevant experience in private practice and/or in-house and have prior experience in areas of consumer protection / e-commerce / technology
- Excellent drafting, negotiating, transaction management and relationship building skills
- Ability to assess and advise on legal risk as part of providing solution driven advice
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with people from different business teams and location
- Enjoys being challenged and is eager to learn and develop in-depth knowledge of business
