The Role 

As General Counsel (and sole legal counsel) at Honeysuckle you partner with the senior leadership team and will be working across a broad spectrum of legal matters and ultimately contributing to Honeysuckle Health’s overall business strategy. 

Your key responsibilities will include: 

Advising a fast-growing healthcare business and managing overall legal risk whilst actively contributing to the commercial direction of the group;  

Designing, drafting, reviewing, and advising upon hospital purchaser provider agreements and other network arrangements, including as part of our ACCC-authorised buying group;  

Provide advice on, and draft legal documentation relating to the commercial and other activities of Honeysuckle Health; 

Key lead in M&A and related activity as part of Honeysuckle’s growth strategy;  

Advising on and assist with the implementation of strategic business initiatives within the regulated healthcare sector including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements to reflect these initiatives 

Ensuring compliance with all relevant privacy laws, regulations, and procedures;  

Supporting Honeysuckle Health to operate in accordance with legislative requirements, regulations, and internal policies, including around data and cyber security;  

Coordinating external lawyers as required; and  

Creating and maintaining precedent documents and know-how.  

About you 

The successful candidate will have 7+ years post qualification experience gained in either private practice (ideally top tier) or a legal in-house environment, with a preference for a background in the health sector and / or understanding of the personal injury, general insurance / and private health insurance sectors .  

You will have: 

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent 
• Admitted to practise law in an Australian State or Territory 
• Strong commercial and corporate experience, ideally including a mix of insurance, M&A, and technology 
• Experience in providing advice across multiple legal subject matter areas 
• Good knowledge of data protection and privacy issues 
• Solid understanding of competition law to ensure compliance with our buying group obligations 
• An ability to successfully develop and build relationships across all business levels – strong client service orientation 
• Highly organised, able to thrive in a high-growth, deadline-driven environment 
• Sound commercial judgement 
• Happy to turn your hand to anything and take ownership of matters 
• Can-do attitude
