Piacentini & Son has an exciting opportunity for a General Manager - HSEQ based in our Head Office in Bunbury, WA. Reporting to the CEO, this role provides executive oversight to the HSEQ function across the Company. We are a Mining and Earthmoving Contractor specialising in bulk mining earthworks, mining rehabilitation services, dry hire equipment, sales, heavy haulage transportation and we employ over 1000 employees across various sites in Australia.
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience in the design and implementation of strategies for safety, health and wellbeing in a large matrixed organisation, ideally in the industrial, mining or resources sector. Your advanced strategic leadership and strong communication skills, along with the ability to influence stakeholders, ensures you deliver strong HSEQ outcomes aligned to Piacentini HSEQ goals.
While based in our Bunbury head office, some periodical travel to sites will be required.
Key Accountabilities
- Establish and govern risk-based health, safety and environmental strategies in line with operational and legislative requirements.
- Drive a positive companywide safety culture, introducing continuous improvement initiatives that improve health, safety and wellbeing outcomes for our people.
- Establish effective interactions with Piacentini Board, Executive leadership, site leadership and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage a remote team of professionals across health, safety, environment and quality as well as local leadership of the injury management and workers compensation functions.
- Provide senior level support should a significant safety incident occur including oversight or sign-off of investigations as appropriate.
- Manage the audit and compliance schedules for Australian Standards accreditation. Oversight and reporting on compliance to corrective actions.
Experience required
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline or equivalent experience
- 7+ years’ experience in a senior HSEQ leadership role, ideally within the industrial services, mining or resources contracting industries.
- Team leadership experience with experience in managing a HSEQ function in a matrixed environment including management of team members based remotely.
- Strong understanding of HSEQ regulations and best practices covering OH&S, Injury Management, Risk Management and Quality Assurance.
- Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the business, and with customers and industry or regulatory organisations.
