Mental health & suicide prevention charity, Mates in Construction are looking for a new General Manager of Mining, Energy & Manufacturing, with operational and strategic experience.

The Organisation:

MATES in Mining/Energy/Manufacturing, in partnership with the Australian Mining, Energy & Manufacturing industries (Employers and Unions), prevents suicide and achieves improved mental health and wellbeing outcomes for workers and their families through quality programs and education, professional support, capacity building and research.
  

The Role:

The General Manager, strategic role involves leveraging industry relationships, providing strong leadership, and ensuring effective program management. Managing a team of 16, this role will be focusing on developing and nurturing their capabilities whilst focusing on partnerships and identifying growth opportunities.
  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee MATES programs across Australia, focusing on Mining, Energy, and Manufacturing.
  • Grow MATES initiatives in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain funding sources for each industry.
  • Ensure adherence to governance standards and delivery procedures.
  • Build relationships with external national stakeholders.
  • Analyse P&L statements, create budgets, and manage finances.
  • Work closely with MATES Australia CEO and Interstate CEOs.
  • Attend networking events, conferences, and public speaking engagements.
  • Develop and evaluate training materials.
  • Provide board reporting and coordination support.
  
Essential:
  • Senior leadership experience with strategic planning skills.
  • Proven track record in strategic growth aligned with research and corporate goals.
  • Ability to navigate industry agendas and foster effective relationships.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborative approach to business relationships.
  • Financial acumen and policy development experience.
  • A current state/territory Australian driver’s license is required
  
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with Australian Mining, Energy, and Manufacturing industries.
  • Relevant qualifications in marketing, business, or communications.
  • Experience using a partnership and client-centered approach.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and program delivery.
  • Knowledge of training and facilitation.
