Overview
You will review and admit patients referred to the Adelaide Hills Medical Unit (AHMU) via General Practitioners, local community services or in consultation with Emergency Departments, and assist with the management of patients within the hospitals requiring a range of general medical assistance. Demonstrating leadership for junior medical staff, nursing and allied health staff, you will contribute knowledge, skills, teamwork, mentoring and organisational skills in all aspects of the delivery of medical care of patients. Ensuring policy and quality is maintained and updated according to SA Health and Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network guidelines, you will participate in quality improvements, administration, teaching, research and site accreditation. The AHMU is comprised of the Mount Barker District Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Gumeracha Hospital and Strathalbyn Hospital. In this role, you will be available to work across the three sites as required, including on-call.
Holding a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or an equivalent qualification, you will have Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP), Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP). Demonstrating extensive clinical experience in the acute internal medicine areas, you will have proven skills at a level to undertake consultant work in General Internal Medicine and the Acute Medical Unit. You will bring the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team in a multidisciplinary setting, along with a commitment to interacting positively with consumers and consumer organisations, including advocacy roles.
