About Perth Racing

The Western Australian Turf Club (trading as Perth Racing) has a remarkable history of hosting thoroughbred horse racing for nearly 160 years.  Perth Racing is a multi-faceted racing, entertainment and event business.  At our two premier metropolitan tracks, Ascot Racecourse and Belmont Park, we host around 95 race meetings every year as well as frequent non-raceday events.

The role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager this permanent full-time role is responsible for assisting the facilities team in the general maintenance, repair and development of the buildings, plant and equipment of both Ascot and Belmont Park racecourses, and the administration buildings. We are looking for an experienced tradesperson or skilled all-rounder, ideally with skills in carpentry. The role contributes hands-on assistance to the facilities team to develop the maintenance plan and implement cost effective repair services while maintaining high standards of workmanship, presentation, service and safe work practices.

Primary duties

  • Carry out cost effective minor and major general maintenance, repairs, and scheduled project works on all Perth Racing buildings, plant and equipment, to a consistently high standard
  • Assist in the planning and execution of all repairs and maintenance and scheduled project works on all Perth Racing facilities
  • Assist in the ordering of all general maintenance materials
  • Comply with all policies and demonstrate a proactive approach to risk and OSH
  • Ensure the maintenance storage areas are kept neat and tidy and compliant with all current risk and OSH policies
  • Communicate with Perth Racing staff on work priorities and coordinate works to ensure minimal disruptions to other departments
  • Report progress and completion of works to the Facilities Manager
  • Provide input in the assessment of Perth Racing facilities and development of maintenance plans
  • Meet the organisations requirement with regard to purchase orders for supplies through the accounting system- MYOB
