The role

The Generalist, People and Culture provides quality support which drives the activities within the People and Culture (P&C) function, ensuring they are understood and valued in accordance with Central Desert Regional Council strategic and regional plans, agreements, policies, procedures and relevant legislation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies and practices to develop, retain and motivate a skilled workforce in accordance with Council policy and relevant legislation including industrial relations law.
  • Develop and implement innovative People & Culture and people management initiatives that contribute to the achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of organisational design, workforce planning, and job design activities to prepare for current and future people challenges.
  • Facilitate the coordination and ensure compliance with mandatory learning and development (L&D) requirements across Council.
  • In consultation with line managers create strategies and programs to support mandatory and non-mandatory L&D capability growth.
  • Assist in the coordination of all aspects of the employee lifecycle including the end to end recruitment process, induction and onboarding, performance management and termination;
  • Develop and implement coaching and mentoring activities for managers to develop people management expertise.
  • Develop and implement innovative people practices that support a positive culture.
  • Be engaged in an effective and proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture.
  • Any other reasonable duties delegated by the Supervisor which are within level.

  • 17.5% leave loading;
