About the OPPORTUNITY

We have a great opportunity for an Issues Management Lead to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at Adelaide or Melbourne, reporting to the Delivery Manager

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

You will be responsible for engaging stakeholders, particularly Engineering and the Customer to understand and prioritise issues based on criticality, dependency and risk. 

Ideally, you will have a background in Engineering or Project Management (or both) and hence an ability to:

  • Converse with technical stakeholders and appreciate issues
  • Navigate large volumes of data and stakeholders
  • Make sense of criticality and priorities
  • Communicate effectively with leadership to set priorities and explain implications.

This is an exciting role, which is high profile, fast moving and wide reaching. You will gain exposure to all aspects of one Australia's largest defence projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identification of key issues, prioritising and escalating appropriately.
  • Conducting deep dives on issues to understand and articulate to the Program any dependencies, required by dates and impacts resulting from insufficient or late delivery.
  • Identifying any possible workarounds and ensuring that critical impacts are mitigated.
  • Responsible for validating new requests, engaging with stakeholders to ensure validity, completeness and priority.
  • Responsible for driving metrics ensuring alignment between all delivery parties and accuracy in reporting.
  • Extensive stakeholder management including communicating effectively with both technical and leadership resources to set priorities and explain implications.
  • Support of governance processes including preparation of status material which clearly and effectively articulates the major issues and provides recommendations.

About YOU

  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A background in Engineering or equivalent technical field with ability to converse with technical stakeholders
  • Strong experience and understanding of Project Management principles
  • Solid understand of project metrics including ability to effectively shape and communicate key areas of status
  • Exposure to Government highly valued
  • Exposure to contract management and commercial negotiations highly valued
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV1 Clearance
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
