Job description

Established in 1879, St Aloysius' College is a Catholic, Jesuit day school for boys from Year 3 to Year 12. Situated in the shadow of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, it has an enrolment of over 1200 students.

The College is conducted by the Society of Jesus and is part of a worldwide network of Jesuit primary and secondary schools and universities.


About the Role

Gifted Education Teacher - Senior School

St Aloysius' College is currently seeking to appoint a committed Gifted Education Teacher to commence Term II on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Head of Learning Enrichment, this ongoing role will be responsible for proactively identifying and supporting high potential students across Years 7-12, with diverse learning needs to achieve their full academic potential.

As a qualified and experienced specialist in Gifted Education, the successful applicant will create a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment, conducive to meeting the educational needs of students, through the development and implementation of targeted and effective learning strategies. The successful candidate will be passionate about learning and teaching and demonstrate a deep commitment to the wellbeing of each student.

Working effectively within a high performing team of four, you will proactively collaborate with subject teachers and other members of staff in the collection and analysis of data to support the growth of high potential learners, whilst also positively contributing to the development of resources and skills to support teachers in identifying and supporting students with diverse learning needs.

About You

To be considered for this position, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • Commitment to the mission of Catholic education of boys in the Jesuit tradition;
  • Possess relevant secondary teaching qualifications and eligibility to teach under the requirements of NESA;
  • Preferably subject expertise within the areas of English, Mathematics or Science;
  • Possess relevant qualifications in one or more areas related to special education;
  • Proven experience with team teaching and working collaboratively with class teachers to develop and implement strategies and adjustments to support diverse learning needs, specifically gifted;
  • Demonstrated experience or capacity to proactively identify, analyse and track data to support the growth of high potential learners;
  • Knowledge of administration requirements pertaining to National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) and NESA Disability Provisions;
  • Possess highly developed interpersonal skills demonstrating an ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff;
  • Should have a willingness to be involved in the College’s co-curricular activities;
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislative requirements, particularly those related to Child Protection/Safeguarding Children, WHS and risk management;
  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check.
