Education Officer: Gifted Education

About the role
Reporting to the Manager: Curriculum and Innovation the Education Officer: Gifted Education assists and supports the development and delivery of Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) Gifted Education initiatives.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to;

• leading the continuous improvement of SCS by developing the capacity of Principals and teachers to respond to the particular educational, social and emotional needs of the gifted learner, inclusive of students who have twice or multi exceptional profiles
• giving leadership to all dimensions of the Newman Selective Gifted Education program across SCS, including initial leadership team briefings, induction, regular large scale professional learning, Accreditation and Re-accreditation processes, all systems associated with Newman Year 7 selection procedures
• developing policies, guidelines and regular review of the Gifted Education Standards Framework
• facilitating the Gifted Education Naturally Embedded program for school leadership teams
• facilitating Gifted Education Online professional learning programs
• promoting and implementing SCSs mission and vision To know and love Christ through learning and Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning
• promoting and abiding by SCSs values of empathy, curiosity, excellence, collaboration and truth
• any other duties as directed from time to time.

About you
To be successful in this position, you must possess:

• postgraduate degree in Gifted Education and at least five years of teaching experience in a school
• highly effective, recent experience within a system-level role
• exceptional disciplinary knowledge and a commitment to ongoing professional learning
• capacity to represent SCS in professional forums and on cross-sectoral committees, as required
• experience in leading exemplary professional education for Newman teams and for schools preparing to enter the Newman program
• demonstrated success in implementing school-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing provision for gifted learners
• highly skilled and experienced in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives
• in-depth understanding of NCCD processes and capacity to actively contribute SCS professional learning in this area
• capacity to assist and support schools in identifying and documenting adjustments for students who are twice or multi exceptional within Personalised Plans for Students with Disability
• current driver's licence.

Additionally, you will are required to;

• be a qualified and accredited teacher with NESA
• operate at the Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
