Outlined below is the position description for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist on a full-time employment basis:
GIS Specialist
The appointee will be responsible for supporting efforts in finding and securing sites for renewable energy projects in Australia. This is an opportunity to gain experience in the renewable energy industry.
The Appointee will report directly to the Director of Advantage Renewables and will provide informal and formal updates on progress on a weekly basis.
General Description and Responsibilities
- Using NEM National Grid information, proposed grid upgrades, wind resource data, environmental, competitor analysis, and other to determine suitable areas to originate sites. If required, you will be given guidance and training on where to find this information.
- Building a database of landholder information in and around preselected suitable renewable energy sites in Australia. You will be given guidance and training on where to find this information and how to present it internally.
- Building landholder presentations (in MS PowerPoint) from a standard company template. Training will be provided on how to do this.
- This is a full-time role, flexible working hours and location. It would be preferable to come into the office at least one day per week, depending on your location.
Skills and Experience
- A minimum of two to four years experience in related fields would be preferred.
- Excellent spoken and written skills in English.
- Ability to use a computer and standard computer packages such as Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
- Experience using QGIS is considered a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
- This is a full-time salaried role, rate dependent on the candidate’s abilities and skill level.
