Our strategy is to focus on creating a safe work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives, and where the capability of our people is key to our success.Come and be a part of this success.About the RoleReporting to Practice Lead Global Geophysics, the Principal Seismic Geophysics role will be instrumental in bringing seismic to Hardrock, integrating with other conventional mineral geophysical techniques and geology to remotely sense, image and interpret the subsurface to aid the access, appraisal, and extraction of mineral resources.In this global role, you will be accountable for:

  • Maintaining oversight of Seismic Geophysics application across BHP and actively provide expertise to assist with technical development, process embedment, capability development of geoscientists, improved productivity, and business decisions.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous development of application of Seismic Geophysics in exploration and resource assessment, including survey design, data storage, hardware and software guidance and collection/processing/interpretation workflow in exploration and mining value chain.
  • Seismic capability building through Seismic Geophysics training to upskill BHP geoscientists in their ability and confidence to apply seismic to their workflow where it will add value.
  • Drive innovation & technology application of Seismic Geophysics across BHP, including collaborating with the Technology Strategy and Innovation team as required.
About You
  • Demonstrated experience of Seismic Geophysics in petroleum, mining, or exploration, including significant field application.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple geoscience datasets with seismic and other geophysical data to inform geological and geotechnical models.
  • Master's or higher degree in geophysics is a requirement.
  • Relevant networks with external researchers and consultants is desirable.
  • Global recognition of expertise is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and influence key stakeholders.
