Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club consists of two superbly manicured, private Golf Courses. The Pines Golf Course, the only Arnold Palmer designed Golf Course in Australia, and The Palms Golf Course provide a world-class golfing experience and are complemented by superb golfing facilities.
The Club boasts approximately 1,200 golfing members and has over 90,000 competition and visitor rounds played each year. We are looking for a Golf Course Superintendent who can continue to enhance the presentation and quality of our playing surfaces and surrounds for our members and guests, extending the prestige of this exclusive facility.
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and management of our prestigious 36-hole golf facility located within a residential estate. The Golf Course Superintendent reports to the Chief Executive Officer
This role requires an experienced individual who can lead a high-performing team of over 25 dedicated staff, who enjoys building strong relationships with stakeholders, and who takes pride in ensuring all playing surfaces are presented to meet and exceed the expectations of members and guests.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs to uphold course quality and playing conditions
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of grounds staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to achieve maintenance objectives within financial constraints
- Oversee irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water usage and optimal turf health
- Collaborate with Golf Course architects and consultants on course improvement projects
- Implement sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in course maintenance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree (or similar) in turfgrass management, agronomy, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Golf Course maintenance, as a Superintendent at a reputable facility
- Extensive knowledge of turfgrass species, agronomic practices, pest management and Golf Course construction
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining Golf Course maintenance equipment
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with budget management, financial reporting and presentations
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Relevant certifications (e.g., GCSAA/ASTMA certification) preferred but not essential
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by seasonal demands
- Australian citizenship or valid work permit
- Current driver licence
