Government & Policy SpecialistCompany: Boeing Australia Holdings Pty LtdJob ID: 00000421296Date Posted: 2024-04-05Location: AUS - Canberra, Australia, AUS - Port Melbourne, Australia, AUS - Sydney, AustraliaJob Description Qualifications:Boeing is seeking a Sydney (ideally), Canberra, or Melbourne-based Government and Policy Specialist to join our Government and Education Relations team. Reporting to the Government and Education Relations Senior Manager for Australia and New Zealand, the role encompasses a mixture of government relations engagement and policy development on behalf of the Boeing Company.As the Government and Policy Specialist, you will be responsible for actively keeping track of relevant policy developments and changes across Australia’s aviation and defence sectors, to recommend any subsequently resultant changes to Boeing’s business operations and policies. You will also be responsible for developing relevant engagement strategies across the political and bureaucratic spectrums to advocate and expand Boeing’s interests in Australia.The Government and Policy Specialist will also be actively involved in working with Boeing’s executive management across a range of backgrounds. These could include diverse areas such as defence and security, aviation, advanced manufacturing space, telecommunications, industrial relations, environment and sustainability, innovation, science, and taxation.Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining strategies to engage with government officials, building stable contacts and developing a positive perception across stakeholders.
  • Developing and monitoring intel on political dynamics of interest to Boeing while monitoring legislative, regulatory and political activities of interest.
  • Leading on a broad range of administrative tasks including analysis, presentations and provision of briefings to support senior Boeing executives.
  • Working with the Head of Government Affairs for Australia and New Zealand to support engagement strategies with government officials and stakeholders regarding potential impacts of government's activity on Boeing’s business interests.
  • Assisting in the development and oversight of the Australia and New Zealand country strategies and business units’ initiatives.
  • Coordinating visits and briefings to assist senior Australian and visiting Boeing executives in their dealings with key leaders, and accompanying them to engagements with government officials and business leaders.
  • Providing assistance to Boeing executives and business leads in understanding Australia’s political processes, policies, as well as current and developing political issues, and their impacts to Boeing.
  • Creation of reports and requirement documentation (e.g., employee labour reports, expense reports, federal/state/local reporting requirements) related to spending, government engagement, ethics and gratuities in order to comply with local/state/Federal laws and regulations, and Boeing requirements.
What you might bring:
  • 7+ years’ experience in a government or policy advisory type role
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and comprehend complex technical concepts, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement within a large matrixed organisation, preferably multi-national
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, evolving environment and as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • A high level of personal initiative and drive
  • Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution is desirable but not essential
