- Lead strategic Government Relations initiatives for Uniting - Develop and improve interaction with all levels of Government to further advocacy priorities
- Work with internal Uniting stakeholders at the highest level including direct interaction with the Executive Director and Board

- Develop and implement Government Relations strategy aligned with Uniting's advocacy goals.
- Supervise and support team members in executing Government Relations plans with measurable outcomes.
- Provide expert guidance on Government Relations opportunities and manage crises effectively.
- Analyse and report on Government Relations outcomes to review strategy effectiveness.
- Manage and develop a team to deliver on strategic Government Relations objectives.
- Proactively analyse government decision-making processes and legislative developments.
- Provide Government Relations support across the organisation, offering advice and assistance as required.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key government officials and stakeholders.
- Increase transparency, consistency, and strategy around Government Relations activities across the organisation.
- Bachelor's qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Government Relations or related field, including 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to identify Government Relations opportunities.
- Experience in developing networks and partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of policy, media, and government-related campaign coordination.
- Ability to work with and engage a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in using digital tools for Government Relations and advocacy.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours when required and travel domestically as needed.
- Ability to open doors in government.
- Understanding of the ethos and structures of the Uniting Church.
