What You Will Be Doing
This permanent part-time Grade 2 Psychologist role is a unique opportunity for those with an interest in delivering psychological services to consumers in a health/rehabilitation setting. The Psychologist will work as part of the inpatient psychology team, compromising Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Neuropsychologists. The team provides psychological services to a diverse range of consumers admitted to acute medical and surgical wards, as well as subacute rehabilitation and Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) wards.
The Grade 2 Psychologist will work directly with consumers, as well as multi-disciplinary teams, to provide consumers with holistic physical and mental health care that maximises their function and independence. The Psychologist will achieve this by completing evidence-based assessments and working with consumers and teams to develop shared formulations of presenting issues to inform treatment and interventions.Common psychological presentations include grief and loss in the setting of changed functional abilities, significant anxiety and fear that impact on engagement in physical therapy (e.g., fear of failing/pain/falling/eating) and trauma related to medical illness, medical procedure(s) and/or the hospital stay. The Psychologist plays an important role in supporting teams in understanding mental health presentations, management strategies and discharge planning recommendations.

What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
• General registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia
• Experience working in a rehabilitation, psycho-oncology or other hospital setting, or interest in working towards this
• Experience in psychological assessment, formulation and delivery of brief psychological interventions
• It is desirable, but not essential, that the Psychologist holds an endorsement in Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology or Counselling Psychology
