We are a busy and dynamic team assisting patients and families by providing a professional service for patients referred across the acute and sub-acute inpatient setting. Our Social Work service includes Adult Acute, General medicine, Women’s and Children’s services, and specialty areas such as Intensive Care unit and Emergency Department. The successful applicants will have the opportunity to be a part of a busy, energetic and friendly Allied Health team.

A Day in the Life:

The Grade 3 Social Worker is expected to provide quality care for clients with the use of competent clinical skills, effective communication, and active participation within the social work service and multidisciplinary teams.
The role is recognised for the clinical expertise, consolidated skills and professional knowledge, ability to provide consultation and clinical leadership to health professionals within the Social Work Department and wider hospital setting, including liaison with senior medical, nursing and allied health teams.
More specifically, you will be responsible for co-ordinating and leading a social work stream in the provision of effective, high-quality care for patients in the designated stream. You will assist with management, supervision and professional development of staff and students. A caseload will be carried in designated areas, maintaining clinical expertise.

What you Need:
To be considered for this important role you will ideally possess the following:
- Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Master of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Eligible for ordinary membership of AASW (http://www.aasw.asn.au/)
- Accredited Social Worker: as approved by the AASW
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Completion of a post-graduate qualification in a relevant field or working towards such a qualification
