Job description

Ecology and Heritage Partners Pty Ltd is an established consultancy providing services in Natural and Cultural Heritage. With a highly experienced team of consultants the Company works throughout Australia and this allows us to service a wide range of clients, including Government agencies and private clients.
With our ongoing growth in the Company we are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual who wishes to further develop their experience and skills as a Graduate Botanist.
While the position is based at either our Melbourne or Geelong office, to service work primarily located in Victoria, interstate travel may be occasionally required. The position requires familiarity with Victoria's flora and ecosystems, a working understanding of Victoria's Guidelines for the removal, destruction or lopping of native vegetation, and other environmental legislation (e.g. Commonwealth EPBC Act). The ability to communicate this information, both verbally and in technical reports, is a key requirement of the role.
The position offers you an excellent opportunity in an established, and growing business. You will further develop your skills base as you build client relationships and respond to new projects and client opportunities.
Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Well-presented and professional.
  • To understand and represent the values of the Company.
  • Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures.
  • Ability to provide advice to clients and maintain a professional relationship.
  • Sound ethical skills and advice provided built on trust and confidentiality with client information.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
  • Tertiary qualification, preferably a degree or post graduate degree in environmental science, (botany, ecology), natural resource management, or related discipline.
  • A minimum of one year practical experience undertaking field based botanical surveys, preferably in an ecological consulting capacity.
  • VQA accreditation desirable.
  • Knowledge of, and how to apply, environmental legislation and government policy such as the EPBC Act and Victoria's Guidelines for the removal, destruction or lopping of native vegetation.
  • A willingness to learn quickly and demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
  • Other non-technical skills required include excellent communication skills, a high level of computer literacy, and the ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.
  • You should be prepared to work flexible hours, including when conducting botanical field surveys, and be willing to travel to field locations throughout Australia.
  • A Current Victorian Driver's License and capacity to work outdoors essential.
You will also have good time management capability, excellent communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines. You will be willing to share your knowledge and learn from others, enjoy being part of our team, and be passionate about making a positive contribution towards biodiversity conservation in Australia.
The position offers a flexible work environment with considerable opportunities to grow and move within the Company.
Ecology and Heritage Partners is committed to a culture of collaboration, support and safety, recognising that people are our greatest asset. Our aim is to work with our team and maximise their potential.
What We Offer You
Company benefits include:
  • A positive and supportive office culture which values people as their greatest asset.
  • A competitive remuneration package based on experience.
  • A flexible work environment.
  • Discretionary bonus for high achievers.
  • Professional development opportunities around career with an established employee mentoring program.
  • Gifted leave between Christmas and New Years Day.
  • Gifted Birthday Leave.
  • Thank you days throughout the year.
  • Social and wellbeing activities (including monthly in office massage, social functions etc).
  • Loyalty bonuses and more.
