Topcoat Asphalt, part of the VSA Roads Group and Colas Australia since February 2018, is South Australia’s leading independent supplier of asphalt products and contracting services. Topcoat has been delivering projects in the civil, residential, commercial, state and local government construction sectors since 1990.
The role:
We are currently looking for a Graduate Estimating Assistant to support the Topcoat team. You will report to the commercial manager. The role will suit someone who is a graduate engineer with an interest in construction estimating. This role will be office based in our Wingfield head office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Construction drawing quantity take offs and measurements.
- Preparation and compiling of non-price tender submission files.
- Sourcing supplier & subcontractor quotes.
- Review/comparison of contract documents such as technical specifications, subcontract agreements and requests for tender.
- Preliminary staging of projects.
- Preparation of project programs (Gantt charts in MS Project).
- Data sourcing/compiling/analysis/reporting.
- Pre/post contract financial analysis.
- Assist contracting PM’s/PE’s/SE’s with QA/lot packaging.
- General system administration.
- Periodic site attendance and interstate travel (VIC, NT, regional SA) (pending business needs and candidate skillset).
About you:
- Bachelor of civil engineering or similar.
- Proficient in/working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite including excel, word, project and access.
- Experience in Adobe Pro and proprietary software/web-based platforms.
- Excellent time management, organisational and multi-tasking skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment.
