As a member of our Managed Services division, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimising our clients' networks, infrastructure, and Cyber Security. You will be gaining experience in troubleshooting issues, managing and configuring devices, and ensuring the overall performance and security of the customers as well receiving guidance and mentorship from other members of the team.

Key Tasks

  • Provide support for incidents and problems, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with clients and meeting of all SLA's
  • Plan and perform configuration changes across network or infrastructure devices,  including routing, switching, firewall, endpoint and server
  • Perform infrastructure changes across endpoints and servers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, external vendors and partners to support and optimise network solutions for clients
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining network documentation such as network topologies, policies, knowledgebase articles, and configurations
  • Implement security measures and ensure compliance with security policies and best practices
  • Monitor network health and performance to proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Provide support to team members of all levels
  • Actively participate in the on-call roster and any out of hours work required for managed services clients
  • Taking ownership of monthly reports for managed services clients whilst providing technical recommendations to add value and optimise client environment


Requirements

  • Experience or knowledge of network engineering, support
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and network security principles
  • Knowledge of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless and load balancers
  • Knowledge of network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Familiarity with network virtualization technologies (e.g., VLAN, VXLAN)
  • Knowledge of network and security devices from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper Networks, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Sophos, HP, Dell, Aruba
  • Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of firewall configuration concepts (zones, policies, IDP, AV, URL filtering, next-generation services, advanced security services)
  • Flexibility to work after-hours and on-call as required
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Full working rights in Australia, a full driver’s license and access to a car is a requirement

Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Networking, Cyber Security or equivalent

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Networking, Cyber Security or equivalent
  • Relevant IT-based certification is highly desirable (i.e. Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto, Microsoft etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in troubleshooting Microsoft Operating Systems, Active Directory, Desktop Software, Microsoft Office 365
  • Basic experience in technical support of server operating systems such as Microsoft Server, Microsoft Hyper-V, and VMware
  • Experience in technical support of SaaS and IaaS based products including Office365, Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, and others
  • Network management platforms administration, and maintenance capabilities
  • Knowledge or skills with SD-WAN technologies such as Cisco Meraki, or VMware SD-WAN
  • Knowledge of security platforms both network and endpoint

We are looking for our next superstar to join the Sparx team as soon as possible. This is a permanent, full-time role and we are an on-site company located in Melbourne CBD, with flexibility to work from home on occasion.
