Thitchener Consulting is a well established structural consulting company, located on the Central Coast, NSW. Our business was established in 1980 and has a client base including Architects, builders and property developers both locally and in Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.
We provide structural design and detailing for residential, commercial and industrial projects, on site supervision and certification during construction as well as structural integrity/adequacy and remediation inspections and reports.
Our staff are experienced and friendly, creating a professional and friendly working environment which the applicant will have the opportunity to be a part of.
Our office is located in Bateau Bay on the Central Coast, close to transport, cafes, shopping centres and beaches.
About the role
We are seeking a graduate or junior level structural design engineer who will be working under the supervision of our senior design engineer. The role will include both individual design and drafting work, as well as working in a team environment.
This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an engineering graduate to start their career in structural design.
It involves working from our Bateau Bay based office completing in house structural design and drafting using the following software:
- Microstran - framing analysis software.
- eTabs and Safe - finite element analysis software.
- AutoCAD drafting software.
The role will also require the applicant to liaise with architects, builders and clients via emails, phone calls and face-to-face meetings.
Skills and experience
We are looking for a graduate engineer with a degree in Structural Engineering who is keen to develop their skills in structural design. The role is for a self motivated person with good people skills and an aptitude to learn about the building industry in conjunction with designing and detailing the projects. The candidate will need to be well versed in the following Australian Standards:
- AS1170.1
- AS1170.2
- AS1720
- AS2870
- AS3600
- AS4100
