About the roleWe are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, customer-focused and dedicated Grill Cook/Kitchen Hand to join our great team.
This is a term time, permanent, part-time role (approx. 21 hours, 3 days p/w from 7.30am to 2.30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) to commence ASAP.
The team, led by our Chef Manager, is responsible for the preparation and the provision of fresh, contemporary, and nutritious meals and beverages for staff and students. You will work in modern and new facilities which are well resourced.

Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare a balanced range of nutritional food for breakfast, morning tea and lunch for students and staff within the college, while maintaining a high standard of hygiene in the food preparation, presentation and serving customers.
- Assist the Chef Manager in the smooth day to day operations of the Tuckshop.
- Monitor stock & identify stock requirements and rotations.
- Oversee cash handling and related processes.
- Preparation and distribution of online orders
- Daily cleaning/tidying of the Tuckshop area.
- Support special event days and other catered school functions as required.
- Observe Workplace Health and Safety Practices to ensure that the tuckshop and equipment is operated and maintained in a safe and hygienic manner and in accordance with the standards outlined by health controlling authorities within relevant legislation and regulation.
- Participate in regular stocktake, recording and reporting processes.
- Maintain our 5-star food handling licence ensuring food storage and handling is appropriate, hygienic and in accordance with the standards outlined by health controlling authorities within relevant legislation and regulations.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Demonstrated experience or ability to quickly acquire understanding of catering for a school or similar (high volume, bulk cookery experience is highly regarded).
- Skills and experience in food preparation, handling cash flow, and advanced knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, and as a team member.
- A commitment to genuine, friendly customer service
- A professional, motivated, enthusiastic, and positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Reliability and capacity to work flexible hours and duties.
- Ability to work and organise in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Sound Microsoft Office computer skills.
- Certificate II or III in Commercial Cookery and/or Certificate in Food Safety Supervisor.
- Possess current Working with Children Blue Card or the ability to obtain.
