About the role
The Group Manager Care Governance & Education leads the direction and management of clinical and Care Governance, clinical best practice and clinical and care education; that is strategy-aligned, meet the needs of residents/clients and other stakeholders, meet the needs of the workforce, ultimately enabling the achievement of results and sustainable performance.
The Group Manager Care Governance & Education fulfils a key role in SCC Services senior leadership team and works collaboratively and with accountability to achieve best practice outcomes.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead systems and supports to consistently optimise clinical and care outcomes
across the organisation. - Lead the Quality & Clinical Specialists team in work expeditiously to best practice in
being directly accountable to analyse and work with each service and the broader
Services team to investigate and mitigate:- all clinical high risks
- all complex clinical incidents
- all complex quality and clinical complaints.
- This includes the completion of clinical reviews, root cause analysis, developing and
following through to completion continuous improvement plans. - Draft comprehensive evidence based Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports or clinical
reports to the Coroner that protect and defend SCC’s actions and reputation in the
care of its residents/clients. - Work collaboratively with the team to Investigate and respond to complaints in a
timely, accurate and professional manner which maintains the reputation of the
organisation. - Draft any special purpose quality & clinical report for the Executive team, Services
Committee or Board. - Identify and lead continuous improvement & best practice initiatives.
- Together with the Executive team create a cohesive and effective working relationship which sets a positive workplace culture and frameworks to meet operational and strategic outcomes for the organisation.
- Enthusiastically lead the Education team to provide clinical care and support
training for SCC.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in nursing or allied health discipline.
- Current AHPRA Registration.
- Experience in leading the Governance and quality activities of a large organisation.
- Demonstrate understanding and experience in developing and implementing governance frameworks.
- Demonstrate experience in establishing quality management systems.
- Experience and sound understanding in aged care service provision.
- Experience in leading, delivery and management of aged care services.
- Experience in the provision of clinical services in the aged care industry is considered highly desirable. Inclusive of Residential, Community and Retirement Living.
- High level ability to effectively liaise with, motivate and influence all levels of staff including Board and Executive members.
