About the role
Reporting to the Group Aviation Safety Manager the role of Group Safety Coordinator will be primarily responsible to assist with the day-to-day coordination of safety related aspects of the Safety department.
Key Duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist the Aviation Group Safety Manager to manage the operation of the Safety Management System, including safety promotion, safety management and safety assurance
- Process safety reports and assist in the co-ordination of safety investigations in all stages
- Co-ordination and delivery of Safety Department training (including Safety Management System, Emergency Response, Drug & Alcohol Management Plan), prepare training certificates/registers, upload recency items to the recency management software and ensure that any re-currency training is completed prior to expiry
- Educate personnel on their roles and responsibilities within the ERP and Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)
- Co-ordinate pre-employment DAMP tests and upload them into recency management software
- Assist in the continued establishment of the Hazard Register and Operational Risk Register
- Promote safety awareness and a positive safety culture by ensuring safety-related information is communicated to all personnel through established communication
- Maintain DAMP Supervisor training and under instruction from the Group Aviation Safety Manager, conduct DAMP testing.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with the Safety Management System manual suite and inform the Group Aviation Safety Manager when there are anomalies and/or improvements
- Participate in audits as required
- Promote a “Just Culture”
To be successful in this role:
- Safety Management experience
- Previous aviation industry experience is advantageous but not essential
- Understanding of risk management principles and techniques to support a proactive Safety Management System
- Experience and recognised qualifications in conducting safety/quality audits and investigations is desired
- Proficient in Excel and Power BI for data manipulation, report generation, and dashboard creation, enabling enhanced data analysis and visualisation
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate confidently and positively with a wide range of people/cultural diversity
- Efficient in the MS Office suite
- Demonstrated excellent written communication and computer skill
- Knowledge of document procedure design and document control experience is advantageous
