They have an intensive vegetable production for the summer months and grow a variety of vegetables for supply to the retail, catering and food market.
In this role, you'll see yourself managing a team of up to 35 workers. You'll be managing every aspect of the farming operations.
Keep accurate records for spraying, planting etc. Follow agreed protocols for spraying, applying fertilisers, and other nutrients as agreed to prepare the land for planting of all crops, i.e. salads and root crops.
Walk the crops as required, checking for disease and pests and take necessary action when required.
Control irrigation and organise as required. Organise and conduct the harvesting.
Fulfil customer orders as communicated from the office. Make sure all equipment is functioning correctly and safely and react to any repairs as required.
Full clean driving licence. Experience of farm machinery.
The role may vary on a day-to-day basis and will reflect the seasonal variations of farming.
FACTS and BASIS would be beneficial as you can then support in agronomic decisions but it's not a necessity so don't be put off if you don't have these qualifications!
