The Maintenance Manager / Handy Person will be directly responsible for the ongoing maintenance and works completed at Best Western Plus Launceston and will ensure that all 116 accommodation rooms, public areas and the hotel are maintained to the highest standard.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Maintain and monitor the hotel's facilities, plants and equipment.
- Complete a preventative maintenance plan
- Coordinate and supervise external contractors
- Ensure compliance with all OH&S guidelines for team members and contractors.
- Ensure cost control measures are implemented and all administration duties are completed in a timely manner
- Manage compliance safety checks and record relevant documentation.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Have to be prepared to undertake a variety of maintenance / handyman tasks with a can do attitude and have the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Have excellent organisational skills and grooming standards.
- Possess computer skills.
- Have the ability to undertake basic repairs in carpentry, plumbing, plastering and painting, grouting and silicon works.
- Have the ability to diagnose electrical faults to determine the need for specialised contractors.
- Have the ability to diagnose faults with commercial kitchen equipment and refrigeration units to determine the need for specialised contractors.
- Carry out consistent preventive maintenance programs on rooms and outlets.
- Ability to ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
- Assist in remodelling and construction of new projects as may be required.
- Guarantee that projects are all promptly accomplished and in line with appropriate specifications.
- Work together with Department Managers and discuss any aspect of operations which will involve the maintenance department.
- Organise and monitor works carried out by external contractors.
- Engage in flexible work schedules to be able to perform well during emergencies.
- Ability to prioritise and organise work assignments.
- Work unsupervised around the hotel, showing initiative.
- Have knowledge on air-conditioning units.
- Have some knowledge in TV and electronic operation.
- Test and Tag certificate preferred.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Hotel Manager.
