Handyperson / Maintenance Officer

The privately owned Y Group has interests in coffee, wine and hospitality. Owning brands such as Blue Cow Cheese, Oakover Grounds, Nikola Estate and My Vitner the group is going through an exciting growth phase! 

Set in one of the most picturesque locations in the Swan Valley, we currently have an exciting opportunity for Full Time Handy Person/ Maintenance Officerto join the group.   

 A day in the life of a Handy Person/ Maintenance Officer varies greatly- you could be fixing a leak one minute, and assisting with a building project the next.  

Some key aspects of the role include:

• Preventive maintenance and capital planning.
• Managing multiple deadlines, contractors and projects at any one time. 
• Communicating to all departments impacted by projects/works to minimise disruption to operations. 
• Carrying out a preventive maintenance programme 
• Ensuring a safe and secure environment for customers, team members and assets in compliance with policies and procedures.
• Maintaining good working relations with outside contacts such as contractors. . 

This role will be required to provide support to the team after hours via telephone communication to assist in arranging emergency contractors. For this reason, our Maintenance Manager is provided with a mobile phone  

An ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in managing maintenance projects
• A friendly nature and be someone who others can turn to  
• Strong problem handling skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure. 
• The ability to manual handle up to 15kg without difficulty. 
• Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and collaboration ability when liaising with stakeholders, both internal and external. 
• Previous experience in general maintenance  
• Trade qualification is highly regarded but not essential.
