About the Role
- We are seeking an experienced person to provide essential home modifications and home maintenance to our CHSP clients.
- The successful candidate will work alongside occupational therapists to provide cost-effective building solutions to maximise client safety and increase independence in their homes.
- Problem-solving skills will be required to work independently in the community carrying out the prescribed home modifications, as well as effective communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team involved in service provision.
Where you'll be working
- HVHMMS is a department of Hunter Valley Community Health, and the office and workshop is based in Muswellbrook.
- The service covers Muswellbrook, Upper Hunter and Singleton LGAs, and provides service to clients in these areas.
- Muswellbrook is located in the rolling vineyards of the world-famous Hunter Valley wine country, where you can taste incredible local produce, take beautiful scenic drives, and discover art galleries featuring acclaimed national works.
- Muswellbrook is less than a 3-hour drive from Sydney, and less than 2 hours from Newcastle. and less than 3 hours to Tamworth

- There is access to training through HNE. Candidates will be expected to maintain CPD. The successful candidate may be required to complete some relevant training before commencement of the role.

Requirements
- Trade qualifications in a building-related field, or working towards same, or handyman licence (Minor Building Maintenance and Cleaning as recognised by Office of Fair Trading)
- Current Drivers Licence Class C.
- Experience in building, construction or related industry
- Demonstrated awareness of relevant Building Codes, Australian Standards, Building Codes, and legislation.
Additional Desirable Criteria
- Asbestos awareness and/or removal qualifications, or willingness to obtain same.
- Electrical Appliance testing qualification, or willingness to obtain same.
- Working at Heights and Working in Confined Spaces qualifications, or willingness to obtain same.
- First Aid certificate.

- An eligibility list will be created for future temporary full or part-time vacancies.
- This position is full-time; however, part-time/job share arrangements will be considered.
- To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia.
