Job description
We require up to 300 people to assist with banana humping, general banana, avocado & papaya Farm Work, banana packing, avocado picking &/or papaya picking & packing in the Tully area, QLD.
Work is to commence from mid August 2024 and is expected to go for 9 months with various start dates.
Payment for these positions will be Level 1 Casual employee under the horticulture industry award 2020 (MA000028)
Brief job description:
Banana Humping – Humpers cut the banana bunch from the tree & carry them to a trailer, typically working in teams of two. This involves reaching above head height to cut the bunches, catching up to 80kgs then carrying it to a trailer. Making this one of the most strenuous jobs on the farm.
Banana Paddock work – de-suckering, spading, stringing & bagging.
Packing Bananas – in a packing shed, shorting & packing to specific requirements.
Avocado Farm Work – packing &/or picking
Papaya Farm Work – picking &/or packing
You will generally work 6 days a week from Monday to Friday and most Sundays. You may be required to work some Saturdays. Usually you will work between 7 & 4pm although start and finish times will differ day to day depending on how busy the farm is.
*Random Drug & Alcohol tests will be conducted prior to beginning & during the period of employment.

Good Fitness level with high endurance.
Ability to acquire good speeds, Ability to work in all weather conditions for long periods of time, Ability to carry heavy loads for long periods of time.
Ability to follow instructions & learn & apply new processes quickly.
