Harvester Operator

The Position:
 
A full-time opportunity is available in the Kingaroy area for an experienced harvester / farm machinery operator to assist with the operation of a Duboisia leaf harvester and the transporting and preparation of Duboisia leaf for export.
 
The successful applicant will work autonomously to support the teams in the field and in the drying plant and will report directly to the Farm Manager.

• Monday to Friday daytime shifts with hours to suit seasonal and weather conditions. (Seasonal and weather variations may require changes to shift times and some weekend rosters at times).

• Handy South Burnett location just a 15-minute drive North of Kingaroy.

The Duties:
 
Duties of the role will include:

• Operation of a specially modified Cotton Harvesters for Duboisia leaf harvesting.
• Operation of tractor and haulage machinery to transport harvested leaf from farm to drying shed.
• General maintenance and repairs to harvester, truck, tractors and other farm machinery as needed.
• Assist with other farm duties as demanded by seasonal variations affecting on-farm production functions.
• Compliance with all workplace safe work practices.

The Requirements:
 
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience in the operation of harvesters, farm machinery or equipment.
• Experience with the general maintenance and running repairs of farm machinery and equipment.
• Flexibility in the delivery of hours to accommodate seasonal and weather variations.
• The ability to vary duties to meet ever changing market and seasonal demands.
• The ability to work autonomously.
• A strong team orientation.
• A proven commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
• The willingness to participate in a pre-employment medical assessment if required, which will include drug and alcohol testing.
• The ability to operate in a workplace where random drug and alcohol testing may be conducted.
• The ability to provide a current Police Check if required.
• Minimum “C” class driver licence.

Although not essential requirements, preference will be shown to applicants also able to offer any of the following:

• Duboisia industry experience.
• A rural or agricultural background.
• Mechanical skills or background.
• Basic welding skills.
• HR heavy vehicle driver licence.
• Bobcat operator competency.
• A current Forklift licence.
