SalaryBlackwood Trenching & Boring is a well-established Horizontal Directional Drilling company specialising in the trenchless installation of gas, water, sewer, electrical and telecommunication based in Bairnsdale, East Gippsland. We are a reputable, progressive and growing team with over 18 years experience in the industry.
Due to ongoing and expanding opportunities within the civil construction industry we are looking for experienced civil construction workers/those who have experience in the Directional Drilling or plumbing/pipe laying industry.
This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated individuals to work with our expanding company with the potential to work in a team leader capacity with contracts servicing Tier 1 utility companies (telecommunications, gas, water) on various job sites across East Gippsland.
Our aim is to employ long term candidates who are driven to grow their career within our company and take on leadership roles as they become available with an opportunity to develop new skills in a highly specialised industry.

The position will include (but is not limited to) the following
- Reading DBYD & Construction Plans
- Locating underground services
- Horizontal Directional Drilling and excavation around services
- Non-destructive digging
- Working around live assets and mains
- Excavation and installation of pit and pipe
- Operating various items of plant
- Completing JSEAs and Pre-Start forms
- Assist with ensuring our services are delivered in a safe and efficient manner
- General equipment maintenance & cleaning
Suitable candidates will possess the following
Applicants should be competent and have a sound understanding in the operation of earthmoving equipment, a reasonable level of fitness and a preference for working outdoors. The successful candidate/s for this position will ideally have previous experience in a similar role, accompanied by;
- White card
- A HR Licence (or willingness to gain one before you start)
- Excavator ticket
- Spotters qualification (preferred)
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screen
- Sound verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
- Positive disposition and can do attitude
- Punctuality and Reliability
- High Standard in Quality of work
- Be enthusiastic, reliable & dedicated to providing customer service
- Have pride in maintaining a high standard of plant, equipment & vehicle maintenance & cleaning
- Good Problem-Solving skills – you will think through problems faced on site and will work together with the team, sharing ideas until a solution is found;
- A proven track record – others will regard you as a reliable and dependable member of the team!
