About the opportunityThe Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) encompasses a diverse array of centres, institutes, and networks, each playing a vital role in advancing research and innovation in healthcare. Our centres are categorised into three distinct groups, each focusing on research of strategic importance: Flagships, Impact Centres, and Incubators. In addition to these groups, we cultivate close partnerships with several medical research institutes. Together, our centres and partner institutes create a dynamic ecosystem of research excellence, driving innovation and making meaningful contributions to healthcare advancements locally, nationally, and globally.The Head, FMH Centre & Institutes Operations is responsible for the leadership and broad spectrum of professional operations within the Faculty of Medicine and Health centres, ensuring that an operational framework is in place to support the achievement of faculty targets and objectives.The position provides expert operational advice to senior executives on a range of matters, fosters relationship with internal and external stakeholders, and develops, manages and implements plans to achieve Faculty objectives. By leading a highly efficient and effective team, it ensures high-quality support for the faculty’s centres and institutes, aligning with our mission of excellence.Your key responsibilities will be to:
  • lead and manage a professional centre leadership team, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in supporting the Faculty's academic and research endeavors and aiming to enhance performance and operational effectiveness
  • collaborate with academic and research leaders to align faculty centre and institute support services with the Faculty's strategic goals and objectives
  • ensure the smooth operation of support services, including administrative, technical, and logistical functions
  • foster strong relationships with academic and research teams, providing responsive and proactive support to meet their needs
About you
  • postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field with equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
  • proven experience in leading and managing professional support teams within an academic or research environment
  • strategic thinking and ability to align support services with broader institutional goals
  • experience in budget management and financial oversight and understanding complex spreadsheets
  • ability to travel and work from various locations
