Overview: As the Head Gardener, you will lead a dedicated team in maintaining and enhancing a 600-acre estate, featuring extensive English-styled gardens, native Australian landscapes, an orchard, a vegetable garden and a cut flower garden. You will be a hands-on individual who still wants to get their hands dirty while managing a small, enthusiastic team. Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a small team of skilled gardeners, ensuring the highest standards of horticultural excellence. Design and maintain the estate in harmony with English-style gardens and native Australian landscapes.
Implement sustainable gardening practices, focusing on water conservation, organic fertilization, and integrated pest management. Select and source a diverse range of plants, maintain the in-house nursery, and propagate plants from seeds and cuttings. Manage budgets for garden operations and efficiently source tools and supplies.
Qualifications: Minimum Certificate III in Horticulture, with knowledge of Turf and Landcare management. 3 years of experience leading a team on a large estate. Chainsaw qualifications and ChemCert AQF3 Chemical Accreditation are mandatory.
Working knowledge of in-ground irrigation systems MR (Medium Rigid) truck license is preferred.
