Job Description

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Head of Architecture will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing strategic technology solutions to meet the needs of our people, our customers and the communities we serve. This role will be responsible for defining and maintaining a comprehensive Enterprise Architecture strategy and roadmap that enables the Business Strategy and aligns with BBA’s goals and objectives. It will also be accountable for growing the Solutions Architecture capability to support all business domains.

You will interact with and contribute constructively at all stages of initiative lifecycle from Idea through to Implementation whilst ensuring that delivered solutions are consistent with BBA’s Architecture Principles. This will be governed by the Architecture Review Board, which this role chairs.

Responsibilities:

• Play an active role in governing Architecture Review Board, ensuring that the approach taken is one of partnering with business stakeholders to deliver strategic business outcomes
• Develop and refine IT roadmaps based on established business strategy ensuring that all architecture building blocks are fully traceable from business drivers, objectives and requirements though to programme of work
• Help refine existing procurement procedures to ensure platform selection meets requirements and avoids bias. Create Solution option Document (SOD) templates to ensure consistent evaluation and transparency. Define and perform fit-gap analysis where appropriate.
• Work with key stakeholders to define effective Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) spreadsheets to assist budgeting, prioritization and dependency activities
• Assist programme and project managers to define realistic, resourced and costed project plans

Desired Skills and Experience

A little bit about you

• Great communicator, demonstrated ability to tailor your message to your audience
• Certification in technology architecture and /or design
• Highly developed knowledge of application development methods practices & tools. (E)
• Certification in technology architecture and /or design. (E)
• Knowledge of design principles and standards such as TOGAF & Zachman (E)

Skills you will bring to our team

• Advanced system architecture skills
• 7+ years’ experience in a similar role in Financial Services
• Experience in solution design in critical, data-driven environments and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure & AWS
