Job description

Western Power is in search of a dynamic and skilled individual to lead our Customer Connection Services function.

As the Head of Customer Connection Services, you will be responsible for overseeing a diverse team of professional and operational staff accountable for delivering a large and complex portfolio of distribution Customer Connection works, from customer application to energisation. Your role will be pivotal in shaping and implementing the strategies to ensure the long-term success of the function in collaboration with industry stakeholders.

This permanent fulltime position will be reporting to the Executive Manager of Asset Operations and will be based at our South Metro Depot in Forrestdale. Travel to our regional depots and the Perth CBD office, with be required.


About this role

As the Head of Customer Connection Services you will be required to:

  • Oversee the end-to-end distribution Customer Connection work value chain (from customer application to energisation) including developing strategies to ensure the long-term success of the function and our stakeholders.
  • Single point of accountability for the end-to-end delivery of all distribution customer driven works, safely, reliably and efficiently.
  • Accountable for ensuring that all available resources are organised toward the effective and efficient pursuit of achieving the required business outcomes.
  • A role model for effective leadership principles and practises in accordance with Western Power Leadership Framework.
  • Support and facilitate the optimisation of Asset Operations operational expenditure through the application of sound business solutions.
  • Effectively manage talent through setting performance expectations, developing skills and ability and to actively recognise employees for their positive contribution.
  • Responsible for, and driving, the overall program (and services) performance against required business outcomes, stakeholder expectations and key performance indicators while taking corrective action where required to do so.
  • Actively build and continuously improve a constructive working environment through promoting open communication and effective engagement with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to emergency activities as required.


About you

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Engineering, or related discipline or
  • Extensive experience of the electricity industry with specific expertise in all operational aspects of electricity networks.
  • A minimum of 10+ years sound business experience leading a multi-channel business in complex commercial environment.
  • Proven, exceptional stakeholder management; building collaborative relationships with industry partners, internal support, and delivery partners.
  • A sound and proven operational business improvement knowledge within a complex environment with advanced understanding of program and project management methodologies, practices, and principles.
  • Extensive experience in planning, organising, and integrating resources, budget management, and work program planning, resource management, communication, and quality assurance.
  • Exceptional organisation and time management abilities to manage several priorities with strong business acumen.
  • Strong technical leadership, influencing, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage at all levels within the organisation including Board and Executive.
  • Demonstrated and broad experience across multiple industries with a commercial approach to deliver operational improvement outcomes that support business strategies.
